The gloriously opulent 11 Cadogan Gardens hotel is set to open an exciting new neighbourhood restaurant from the team behind Chewton Glen and Cliveden, with an all-day menu season menu by head chef Adam England and a stunning interior by Goddard Littlefair.

Head chef England (previously of Le Pont de la Tour) has created a menu rooted in British produce and underpinned by his classical cookery skills. He was also inspired by the restaurant’s namesake, Sir Hans Sloane, who was credited with bringing cocoa to the U.K. – with chocolate desserts and signature hot chocolate drinks taking centre stage.

Littlefair has put his skills to work and created an oasis of calm just a stone’s throw from Chelsea’s bustling Sloane Square. Guests arriving at the 106-seat restaurant will be met by a bright and airy space, featuring white fluted timber walls offset with original yellow-stock brick, a pale oak parquet floor and skylight windows. White marble and black oak-topped tables are surrounded by dark green banquettes and bespoke velvet chairs, with brass detailing and feature lights giving a Contemporary-classic feel.

We are especially excited by the sound of an intimate 20-seat bar, with a concise list of classic cocktails using British spirits designed by booze guru Salvatore Damiano, including a twist on a Gin Sour and the British Mule. The 16-seat private dining room, called ‘The Curio’, was inspired by Sir Hans Sloane’s love of adventure and discovery and will make an impressive venue for your next birthday dinner.

Restaurant General Manager, Simon Smith (previously of hotspots Berners Tavern and Hakkasan) is in charge of the eclectic wine list, which will focus on quirky bottles from around the world.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Pavilion Road family and are proud of the heritage that our location inspires,” said England. “I’m passionate about ingredients and fresh produce so having such great artisanal and family-run shops on our doorstep is a huge bonus for me”

And Smith’s description of the restaurant, which will open in May, makes it sound like heaven: “We want Hans’ Bar & Grill to be a real neighbourhood spot – a place people feel just as comfortable popping in for breakfast, a drink and a salad for lunch, or for a special occasion with friends.”

Yet another reason to visit picturesque Pavilion Road with its artisanal shops and food suppliers, including a butcher, baker, wine merchant, cheesemonger and greengrocer, with more to join them. It is also home to Chelsea’s new Granger & Co restaurant, vegan café Wulf & Lamb and health and wellbeing hub KXU.
